Newest 2023 Desktops

Best Desktop 2023: Acer Aspire Desktop, Intel Core i7-12700F 12-Core, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD/1TB HDD

The best Desktop for the money at the moment is in my opinion the Acer Aspire Desktop, with 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700F.

This desktop has the combination of the 12th Generation power efficient Intel i7 12700F processor together with the newest very fast 16Gb DDR4 Memory. It is the latest Intel version and has a very good price/quality compared with the older 11th gen Intel processor. A big increase in performance of the Intel Core series was expected in the next 12th gen processors and the results are indeed impressive. The Intel I7-12700 has a Turbo Boost up to 4.9 GHz and 16 Gb DDR 4 3200 MHz RAM is more than enough for any demanding graphics program. For serious gaming you get the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super Graphics with 6GB GDDR6 Video Memory tht will let you play most games at higher settings. The RAM is up-gradable to 32 Gb if needed. OS: Windows 11. It has a 512 Gb SSD which gives a fast boot and reaction times and the extra 1TB HDD gives you more than enough storage space for all your data. It comes with a keyboard and mouse.

Price/Quality
Price (at time of writing this post): around $1200 but this could have changed in the meantime. When I look at price-quality and value for money this ACER tower desktop is my choice for ‘best desktop 2023’. It is also one of the best selling desktops on Amazon at the time of writing.

Best Gaming Desktops 2023 to buy

(Click on the thumbnails for more info, specs and buy)

Gaming desktops are high-end desktops and are more expensive than normal desktops. This is because they have a better cpu, more/ faster RAM and a much better, almost always separate, video card than regular desktops, which are needed for fast game-play, high fps and excellent graphics in high demanding games.

Best Desktops – Budget Under $600

When you just want a pc to do some everyday email, internet/ social media, watch an occasional movie or do some text editing then, a cheaper, more affordable budget computer is the best choice. The specs are not as good as the more expensive desktops have. So therefore don`t expect the fastest performance. If speed and specs are not the most important then the following recommendations are everything you need. And all that for a good price. Also check out the refurbished desktops which are good value for money.

What performance can you expect from a gaming desktop computer?

The speed of a gaming desktop depends on the quality of the central processing unit (CPU), single core, dual core, quad core etc, the available RAM (more internal memory is better: gaming desktops should have at least 4 GB). Besides the CPU the type of harddisk your OS runs on makes a big difference: a SSD is more expensive but much faster than a regular HDD. Today you almost don’t see single core cpu’s anymore. 2 or 4 cores is usual in regular desktops, at least 4 or more in gaming systems. When running programs or games that use a lot of graphic processing like high speed games on higher settings the quality of the graphics processing unit (GPU)is crucial. The newest Intel i3/i5/i7 cpu’s are the 9th gen cpus that perform better and have better power efficiency.

When choosing a desktop computer the CPU is an important factor to consider. The CPU is the heart of the system. There are two main processor manufacturers namely Intel and AMD. The intel processors tend to perform slightly better but cost about twice as much compared to the AMD processors. Therefore, for about the same price as a 4 core intel CPU you can get a gaming rig with a 6 or more core AMD CPU or you can buy one with a better GPU.

DDR4 RAM

Newer Gaming desktops mostly have the newest DDR4 RAM which is faster and more power efficient. This can give you a massive gain in frame rate on higher settings.

Separate or integrated GPU?

Cheaper gaming Desktops with a CPU like the I5 or the AMD A6 and A8 have integrated Graphics in the CPU. You don’t need a separate graphics-card because it is build in, but in gaming those build in gpus give only average performance on low to medium settings. For more serious gaming than casual gaming you want to have the CPU and a separate graphics-card doing its own task. This is a bit more expensive but greatly improves the frame-rate and visuals on higher settings.

Best budget/ affordable gaming Desktop 2022: Dell Inspiron Gaming PC Desktop AMD Ryzen 7 2700

The best gaming desktop at the moment in my opinion is the Dell Inspiron Gaming PC Desktop with AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Processor, 16GB DRAM, 1TB HDD, AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB GDDR5 Graphics Card, Windows 10 64-bit, Blue LED with Keyboard and Mouse.

This is in my opinion the best budget gaming rig because it has the combination of the newest 4.1 GHz AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Processor with 4 cores, together with the very fast 16 GB DDR4 memory. An AMD CPU always needs a lot of RAM for optimal performance and 16 GB is more than enough for any demanding graphics program or game at higher settings. OS: Windows 10. Because it is a budget gaming pc it doesn’t have a SSD but the latest High capacity, High speed 1TB 7200 Rpm SATA drive. This gives you more than enough storage space for a lot of games. Graphics card: Amd Radeon RX580 Graphics with 4GB GDDR5

You can get all this for a very, very good price under $700 at the time of writing this post. When looking at price-quality and value for money this Dell gaming desktop is my choice for ‘best gaming pc 2019’. It is also one of the best selling desktops on Amazon at the time of writing.

Best Budget (Below $400) Self Build Desktop Pc Spec 2015

2015. Building your own budget desktop is cheaper than buying one off the shelf, you can configure the self build desktop to your specific wishes and it is right out fun to do.

First of all you need a motherboard/ chipset combination that can deliver the performance you want and isn`t too expensive. Then you need some internal memory to speed things up. I recommend for the configuration below 4 Gb of DDR3. More is not needed for a budget self build and less would bring down performance too much.

Then you need a HDD or SSD. Fortunately today the SSDs have become increasingly cheaper and for a budget build desktop you can get a 128 Gb SSD for a reasonable price. That is why I have selected it for my setup below. It just boots so much faster than a normal HDD that I think is worth the money. Ofcourse you can always use a HDD yourself if you have one laying around or want to spent less money.

To put everything together you need a case and a power supply. For this selection I have gathered low price but quality products.

Here is my recommendation for Best Budget Self Build Desktop 2015 Build

It costs about $360 without software. For software I choose Linux Mint myself because I like Linux and now how to work with it. You might like Windows 8.1 better but that adds to the price.

Processor Intel Pentium G3420
Motherboard ASRock H81M-HDS
4 Gb Mem intern

Crucial DDR3 4Gb

(you can also get 2x 2 Gb)

Solid State Drive Crucial M500 2,5″ 120GB
Case Rosewill Micro-ATX Mini Tower Computer Case with Dual USB 3.0, Dual Fans
Power Supply
StarTech.com 300 Watt ATX Replacement Computer PC Power Supply ATX 300
If you want to add Software

I recommend: Windows 8.1 or

Linux Mint (free)

Linux Ubuntu (free)
