SSD vs HDD

The main advantage of SSD above HDD is the speed. SSD`s are incredibly fast compared to HHD`s but there was the problem that Solid State Drives did not have much GB`s of storage and they were expensive. But no more ! The rapid development of the ssd has now overcome these problems. SSD`s are now available from 16 GB to 960GB and the price has dropped.

The SSD is this fast because it has no moving parts, a HDD does. This makes the SSD noise free, light weight and durable. The flash memory in the SSD delivers the data directly via the SATA 3 connector to the CPU. SSD`s are about 10 times faster than a 7200 RPM HDD.

Also the development of Chromebooks has made an impact. In these low budget laptops a small 16 GB ssd is build in because the bulk of the programs are stored on-line and not on the internal memory anymore. Because of the solid state drive chromebooks are very very fast. So, for the near future I see the HDD fading out slowly and the SSD taking its rightful place as cheap, fast and most used core memory in netbooks, laptops and desktops.

The best and most popular SSD on the market today is without doubt the Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series. At around $130 for the 250 GB version this is not the cheapest SSD but it is the best for a good price with proven quality.

This SSD from Crucial is the cheaper (around $115 for 256 GB version) option but it has good specs and performance. The 512 GB version that I recommend here has more than enough GB memory for a normal laptop or desktop. Crusial can make the SSD cheaper by using a new production method which makes better use of the flash memory. With this method the SSD needs less chip surface to reach the required capacity.

#3) Kingston Digital 240GB SSDNow V300 SATA 3 2.5 (7mm height) with Adapter Solid State Drive

The Kingston SSD is the cheapest (around $ 90 for the 240 GB version) in this top 3 list but for this money it has good speed and specs. Dont expect the same performance as the Samsung and the Crusial but when you want to replace your HDD with a cheap and decent SSD This Kingston SSD will do the trick. You will be amazed by the performance boost.

My recommendations this Christmas for small budget drones as gift under $100 are the the Hubsan 4 Channel Quadcopter, the UDI 6 Axis Gyro Quadcopter and the Dromida Omnius Quadcopter. For a price under $100 you can expect a small drone which is easy to fly but doesn’t have the power/features/maneuverability that the more expensive drones have. Of the three drones shown below only the UDI Quadcopter has a HD camera for photo and video but this also means the price is higher than the two without a camera. All three are very good affordable drones to start with, to learn how to fly a drone or just to try out drone flying for fun. Never let kids fly a drone without supervision and first check out the regulations for drone flying in your area.

AMD Laptops 2019

AMD processors have less processing power then Intel processors but they are about half the price. For example: for the same price as an Intel i3 processor which is a duo core processor you have a quad core AMD A10 processor. The AMD A10 and i3 processors are similar in performance. AMD processors run better with a good amount of fast RAM memory. Therefore you will normally see more GB RAM installed in the laptop. You will find better/ separate graphic-cards in AMD laptops then in Intel laptops for the same price because the processor is cheaper. This is useful for better graphics in games and video editing.

It does not have the extreme quality of the Apple MacBooks but has a lot to offer for about 1/5 the of the price :) that is why I put this laptop on the #3 place in the ranking.
